Harbour Long-Term Development Plan – 2050 (and beyond)
Dunbar Harbour Trust (DHT) released the Long-Term Development Plan (Port Master Plan) in November 2024, outlining the long term strategy for the Harbour. The plan aims to prioritise the use of existing and identify new funding sources whilst focusing resource to maintain, improve and develop the Harbour for current and future stakeholders.
The plan was developed through an initial community questionnaire (Q1 2024) and exploratory sessions with the board (Q2&Q3 2024). The plan is dynamic and if needed, will be reviewed and updated as environment and situations change or as a minimum, every two years.
DHT is keen to identify funding sources to support this plan so if you know of opportunities, please get in touch.
Three year plan
In addition to the Long-Term Development Plan, DHT undertakes several focused projects to continually improve the harbour. These projects are identified and delivered over three years with the current list agreed in 2024, with the next list to be agreed in 2027.
Current projects are:
Harbour Bridge Gates – design, manufacture and installation of gates to restrict access over the harbour bridge during periods of inclement weather as well as reduce wear and tear on the bridge.
Harbour mooring chain upgrades – replace the existing harbour mooring chains to improve moorings for existing users as well as expand the mooring offerings to allow more boat owners to use the harbour
Harbour ladders – change out the existing harbour ladders for new
DHT is keen to identify funding sources to support these focused projects so if you know of opportunities, please get in touch .
